Karl von Toten is a German scientist that discovered a new and revolutionary technology: a machine capable of making what a person imagined real. He is wanted by Kara. He has the Iron Cross and the Pour le Merite, which indicates that at some point he did a great service to Germany. Probably in the Franco - Prussian war because of his age. This is just a theory.
His archetype in our reality is a German imperial Colonel General (Generaloberst) and in 1915 Governor-general of Generalgouvernement Warschau (also known as the short lived Kingdom of Poland) Hans Hartwig von Beseler (1850 - 1921)
Biography
Karl von Toten has been an excellent physicist for a long time, and this got him an invitation to a science conference held by Isaac Newton in 1886.[1] He was known to be one of the best in physics.
Iron Cross
In some earlier point in life, he got an Iron Cross, which is a former military decoration in the Kingdom of Prussia, and later in the German Empire (1871–1918).
Pour le Mérite
He was also awarded a Pour le Mérite was awarded as both a military and civil honor and ranked, along with the Order of the Black Eagle, the Order of the Red Eagle and the House Order of Hohenzollern, among the highest orders of merit in the Kingdom of Prussia and later the German Empire. It can be connected to the Boxer Rebellion because he has a Golden Chinese Lion in his upper stairs of the mansion.
After 1903
Later, in July of 1903, he was invited to the Knowledge for Victory conference because of his knowledge of physics. Von Toten worked with the group to create war machines, however, they didn't achieve much. He was one of the few who did not go missing after the conference. Since he was one of the best in physics, this probably made the IAGH suspect him. Von Toten had some ideas of his own, and he and K agreed to let him continue working with his own prototype on a smaller scale.
It would seem that von Toten was successful. He had created the Imagination Realisator. To be sure of this he sent a sample of helium to Kaiser's Chemistry Institute. After that, he went missing. He also has something to do with the Horten Plane.
He first talked to Kara in Covert Front 4. He is an old man so he was not able to escape from Kara. When Manfred came around he was killed by Kara.
Appearance and abilities
Von Toten is often seen in a long coat with two rows of buttons. He is bald and has a prominent mustache. This coat is only for special occasions. Right now it is in his house. When Kara first saw a hologram of him, he wears a white shirt with a grey/green spencer. In his lab in Lisbon, he wears a white shirt with a brown leather coat.
